The classes are my regular (intermediate to advanced) style with some being softer and some more advanced. The Yin classes are all levels.
What do the elements of TCM represent?
We’re going to spend six days immersing ourselves in each element, moving through the seasons of life:
First, we start with Water, representing Winter. This is about deep rest, tapping into your willpower, and dissolving fear.
Then we move into Wood, the energy of Spring. We’ll detoxify, embrace new movement, and release tension.
Next is Fire, for Summer. We’ll open our hearts, ignite our joy, and strengthen our spirits.
Then we ground down with Earth, for Late Summer. This is all about stability, nurturing yourself, and calming the mind.
And finally, we finish with Metal, the season of Autumn. We’ll refine our breath, find clarity, and practice the powerful art of letting go.
Each Element is associated to a pair of Meridians, or energy lines, in the body.
Water is associated to the Kidney & Bladder meridians which run along the spine and inner legs,
Wood is associated to the Liver & Gallbladder meridians which run along the side body and outer legs,
Fire is associated to the Heart & Small Intestine meridians which run along the front body and chest
Earth is associated to the Spleen & Stomach meridians which run along the front torso and thighs,
Metal is associated to the Lung & Large Intestine which run along the arms and chest.
The yoga sequences are created in a way that aims to stimulate those meridians.
Will the challenge remain available after January?
